About the MSOP

The Mandolin Society of Peterborough was a group of enthusiastic mandolinists who banded together to create a small orchestra. They gathered on Sunday mornings in various venues, most recently at the Theatre on King, 171 King Street, Peterborough, Ontario, October to April, to practise unique arrangements of pieces from a variety of musical genres - waltzes, show tunes, reels, techno-pop, blues, even a few original compositions. Sadly, in late 2019 the Society disbanded.

How did the Mandolin Society come to be?

Our founder and conductor, Curtis Driedger, initiated the Mandolin Society in 2003 in the front room of his home, but it soon outgrew the available space and moved to the Peterborough Art School studio at the Charlotte Mews. Practices have been held at the Peterborough Arts Umbrella building, at Sadleir House, and, more recently, at The Theatre on King.
